Ever since April 20th, I knew about Luke. Not that he was Luke, but that he was coming into this world. I waited patiently for the 8 months that I knew for his arrival. I got the call at 12:30 am on December 29th. Since this was Mike and Jo’s second baby, I knew it wouldn’t be long, so I rushed to the hospital. Silly, I know, but I couldn’t risk missing anything.
This was what seemed to me to be the easiest labor and delivery ever! (In my opinion. Jo might tell you different)
When it was time to push, I could barely see through the viewfinder. When baby “Pickles” (named lovingly by big sister Emma) entered this world and when “It’s a boy” was said, the room erupted in laughter and tears. (I was a mess) Mike now had his boy… but no name yet. Being in the room with his family as he told them they have a boy, was a moment I will never forget. ( getting verklempt as I type this)
Then came time for Big Sister Emma to meet Luke. She was very quiet and said a lot of “Um hmm’s”. I don’t think she quite understood how “Pickles” was on the outside of Mommy’s belly now and the loud noises he was making. But, she did well.
I can’t even begin to tell you how lucky I am to be apart of Mike and Joanna’s life. To have the opportunity to welcome both of their children into this world and be trusted with such private moments of their lives is beyond comprehension.
I love you all so dearly. Congratulations to you again and again! He is absolutely perfect!
Welcome Luke the Lion…..
