Brittany and Jeff

Monday, I met Brittany and Jeff on City Island for their engagement session. I wanted to meet them somewhere in between both of us so they didn’t have to go to far. Since it was mid day on Monday, no one was on the Island. This made it more comfortable for them to interact without people stopping and watching. It was extremely hot, so we moved quickly. These two are so cute together. They have been dating since they were 14…how sweet!! Here is a sneak peak….

The Perfect Plan

Well, as most people know, I don’t celebrate my birthday on my birthday…TODAY…so, last night, since I had the weekend free, Liesa and I attended the Grand Opening of The Perfect Plan in Millersville. Lori Hemphill is the owner. I had the pleasure of working with her at a wedding this summer and she is the greatest wedding coordinator to work with!

Across from the showroom, there was a huge tent set up and you could already hear the music playing. Staff was on hand serving the most wonderful appetizers. There was a sushi bar set up in the back which I hit a few times. Sushi is now my favorite food!!! Fire and Ice were the main food vendors who also had a crazy vodka luge that had pomegranate martinis flowing all night! You really need to go check out Lori’s showroom. It is quite incredible! Thank you Lori for inviting us! Here are just a few from the night. Lori told me not to work…

Emily and Dave

I met Emily and Dave in Hershey at Founder’s Hall for their engagement session. The weather was so perfect! I decided to not use so much of the fru-fru stuff people tend to flock to at founder’s hall. Emily and I agreed that it reminded us too much of Prom pictures. So we head behind the buildings for some fun shots, but still got great portraits with the beautiful landscaping. We had a lot of fun walking around and talking. I just wish I would have been available for their wedding also…..her are a few from the other night.

Dione and Boonta…married

This was the first double ceremony for Katie and I. Dione and Boonta decided to represent both of their cultures for their wedding day. The morning started out at Boonta’s families house where the traditional Laotian ceremony was held. There were a ton of people running around beforehand making so much food for after the ceremony and later in the night.
We were all in a smaller room gathered around Dione and Boonta and close family. They sat in front of 2 “trees” called phakouanh which are holding fruit and rice. They are given strings to hold which have been blessed while the “minister” is chanting over them. Then, they feed each other eggs which have been given to them but the family. When all this is done, the guests take small strings from the tree and tie around Dione and Boonta’s wrist while blessing them. They then have to wear them for 7 days. Once this ceremony and small reception were over, we all headed over to the Lancaster Arts Hotel where most of the bridesmaids and groomsmen were getting ready. Dione had to start all over again with hair and makeup for the American ceremony.
Let me just tell you, Dione wanted nothing that was like anyone else. Her ideas were so unique, from her dress, to the amazing bouquet/sphere that Kelly from All Things Beautiful put together for her, to the beautifully decorated reception. Things just kept getting better!
The ceremony was held at the Ephrata Cloister. This place was so photographically beautiful. The light was so amazing. After the short ceremony, we all headed to Liberty Place in Lancaster for a huge party. Unlike American receptions, the Lao tradition is to have a huge party for friends and family even if they don’t come to the ceremonies. The number of people went from about 75 to 400. It was crazy!! We arrived at Liberty Place, we headed right into the room where everything was taking place to grab some shots before cocktail hour was over. There at the front of the stage was what I was waiting for….the crazy cake! ( House of Clarendon)
I knew Dione wouldn’t disappoint with that! Here are a few sneak peaks and your show !!

Alison and Ryan…married

Saturday was the first wedding of the weekend. You would have thought it was July but the humidity!
Katie and I went to West Chester for Alison and Ryan’s wedding. We met the girls at Ryan’s parents while they got ready….all 8 of them!! Before heading to the church, we grabbed a few shots of them in the grove outside the house. We had a slight shoe dilemma because of the wet grass, but Katie and I fixed it no problem!
The wedding was held at St Agnes in downtown West Chester. It was like an assembly line of weddings…they run them back to back so it was difficult to figure out who was with who when we arrived. The church was beautiful and the ceremony as well. One of Ryan’s groomsmen, Ben, is a Baritone in Philadelphia with the most incredible voice. He pulled double duty for the ceremony.
They wanted a majority of their group shots to be at the reception site so we grabbed a few outside the church before heading over to the
Farmhouse at People’s Light. What a cute little place. We got through the formals pretty quickly that ALison and Ryan were able to greet their guests at cocktail hour. Then once the dinner, dancing and cake were done, the dance floor opened. We got bumped around quite a bit, but had so much fun! Here ya go!! Check it out !!

Dawn and Mike…married

Sunday, was an absolutely gorgeous day! The breeze was blowing, the sun was shining and we were working!! We were for about the third time this summer/fall at
Cameron Estates for Dawn and Mike’s wedding. We did their friends
Melanie and Nathan’s. wedding last year. Oh, how I love referrals!
We arrived a little early to get an idea of what we wanted to do this time. Plus, the ceremony was at the bridge and we never shot it set up like this. The sun as beautiful as it was, wasn’t really at the spot we wanted it. But it all worked out!
They girls got ready in a room in the house while the guys were milling about outside and in the carriage house. Time moved so fast that we had to get the majority of the group shots after the ceremony. We were able to find some cooler places to shoot so no one was blinded by the sun. Then it was time to head to the reception. I think I am going to have to put a warning on my contracts soon, saying ” photographer will bawl during the father /daughter and mother /son dance”. Maybe it is because I am getting older, I don’t know. But, this is another reason I love weddings! I have the best job ever! Here are a few from Sunday and your show !! Talk to you when you get back!
